Overview

iamota is committed to protecting your privacy. As an iamota user, we have designed a strict privacy policy to protect your information. When you use iamota products and services, we ask you for personal information that will be used to activate your account and communicate with you about the status of your account.

iamota will not share your information with anyone without your permission, unless required do so by law or in accordance with your instructions. iamota will strive to prevent unauthorized access to your personal information, however, no data transmission over the Internet or over the air (OTA) is guaranteed to be 100% secure. iamota will continue to enhance security procedures as new technologies and procedures become available.

Please note that your personal information will be stored and processed on computers in Canada. The laws on holding personal data in Canada may be less stringent than the laws of your country but iamota will hold and transmit your personal information in a safe, confidential and secure environment. If you object to your personal information being transferred or used as described in this Privacy Policy, please do not use iamota products or services.

 

 

Information Collection and Use

When you use iamota products and services, you will be asked to provide some required account information. Your name and your email address are required by iamota in order to provide you with access to the software. You will also be asked to create a private password, which will become part of your account information.

iamota may use your account information for the following purposes:

  • To assess service levels
  • To verify access rights to services and software
  • To provide you with information regarding iamota product and service offerings
  • To allow you to use iamota products and services
  • To monitor traffic patterns and gauge popularity of product and service options

 

Limited Data Sharing With Third Parties

iamota will not sell or rent any of your personally identifiable information to third parties. iamota will not share any of your personally identifiable information with third parties except in the limited circumstances described below, or with your express permission. These third parties are limited by law or by contract from using the information for secondary purposes beyond the purposes for which the information is shared.

iamota may disclose the information we collect to companies that perform marketing services on our behalf. We may also disclose the information we collect to other companies with whom we have joint marketing agreements. These companies are subject to confidentiality agreements with us and other legal restrictions that prohibit using the information except to market the specified iamota-related products or services, unless you have affirmatively agreed or given your prior permission for other uses.

We disclose information that we in good faith believe is appropriate to cooperate in investigations of fraud or other illegal activity, or to conduct investigations of violations of our Terms of Service Agreement.

We disclose information in response to a subpoena, warrant, court order, levy, attachment, order of a court-appointed receiver or other comparable legal process, including subpoenas from private parties in a civil action.

We disclose information to your agent or legal representative (such as the holder of a power of attorney that you grant, or a guardian appointed for you).

We share aggregated statistical data with our business partners or for public relations. For example, we may disclose that a specific percentage of our users live in San Francisco. However, this aggregated information is not tied to personally identifiable information.

 

 

User Communications

iamota may communicate with users via email to provide account activation, account information, and requested information and services in regard to any issues with their account.

iamota may occasionally send users information regarding iamota products, services, news and events. All users have the option to not receive this information.

The only communications that users cannot opt-out of are those required to communicate service-related announcements, including planned service suspensions and outages. iamota will strive to minimize this type of communication.

iamota may contain links to other sites and is not responsible for the privacy practices or the content of such sites. iamota encourages all users to read the privacy policy of linked sites, as their privacy policies may differ from those of iamota.

 

 

Cookies and Log Files

iamota uses cookies and log files to track user information. Cookies are small amounts of data that are transferred to your Web browser by a Web server and are stored on your computer’s hard drive. iamota uses cookies to monitor traffic patterns and gauge popularity of service options. iamota will use this information to deliver relevant content and services to you.

If your browser is set not to accept cookies, you will not be able to use iamota. However, most browsers are initially set to accept cookies. You can set your browser to notify you when you receive a cookie, providing you with the chance to accept it.

 

 

Questionnaires, Surveys and Profile Data

From time to time, iamota may offer optional questionnaires and surveys to users for such purposes as collecting demographic information or assessing users’ interests and needs. The use of the information will be explained in detail in the survey itself. If iamota collects personally identifiable information from users in these questionnaires and surveys, the users will be given notice of how the information will be used prior to their participation in the survey or questionnaire.

 

 

Change of Ownership or Business Transition

In the event of a change of ownership or other business transition, such as a merger, acquisition or sale of iamota’s assets, your iamota account and iamota’s servers containing your information will, in most instances, be part of the assets transferred. As an iamota user, you will be notified via email and/or iamota’s Web site prior to the change of ownership or business transition. Your information will be transferred subject to the terms and conditions set out in this privacy policy.

Following a change of ownership or business transition, iamota or its successors will continue to use your information in accordance with the Privacy Policy under which the information was collected.

 

 

Security

When transmitting your personal information, iamota uses Secure Socket Layer (SSL) communications with SHA-256-bit encryption on all of your personal information. SSL ensures that all of your information is protected against unauthorized use.

Your Web-based access to your information is protected by an encrypted password. We strongly recommend that you do not disclose your password to anyone. If you forget your password, iamota will ask you for your email address and send you an email containing a new password.

Your information resides on a firewall protected server that only selected iamota personnel have access to via password.

 

 

Notification of Changes

iamota reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to modify this privacy policy from time to time without notice. Please review this privacy policy from time to time so that you will be apprised of any changes.
